Located in North India, Uttaranchal state , now known as Uttarakhand is bordered by Tibet and Nepal in the North , Himachal Pradesh in the west and Uttar Pradesh in south. Like any other Himalayan range state, Uttarakhand is blessed with scenic beauty, snow capped mountains, deep gorges & valleys, rapids & rivers. In history, Uttaranchal is known as the abode of gods & goddesses and the source for india's holy river Ganga. The state also has multitude of Hindu pilgrimage spots.

Uttarakhand has a total geographic area of 51,125 km², of which 93% is mountainous and 64% is covered by forest. Most of the northern parts of the state are part of Greater Himalaya ranges, covered by the high Himalayan peaks and glaciers, while the lower foothills are forested.This makes for one of the most remarkable holiday spots of the country.

There are 13 districts in Uttarakhand which are grouped into two divisions. Kumaon division & the Garhwal division. The main areas of visits by most tourists are Valley of flowers,Haridwar,Rishikesh, Pauri, Auli, Udhamsingh, Dehradun, Ranikhet, Nainital, Kausani, Chamba Dhanolti, Almora, champawat, Mossoorie & Pithoragarh.

Uttaranchal is famous for its pilgrimage centers which are Badrinath, Rishikesh,Char Dham Gangotri,Gaumukh, Haridwar, Kedarnath, Uttarkashi & Yamunotri where every year thousands of visitors throng to perform yearly rituals. With a varied topography, Uttarakhand also attracts a lot of adventure seekers for mountaineering, trekking, skiing, skating, water sports such as river rafting, aero sports like hang gliding, para gliding .. all of this which makes the state most appealing to thrill seekers.
